A giant sunami wave Towers over Lugia. Before Lugia could be swallowed up from the wave, Lugia used protect and went to warn Moltres, because the wave was heading straight toward Moltre's mountain. But the wave was also heading for a Human Village, so Lugia prevented the wave from hitting the village. when the wave Passed, Lugia continued to the mountain.

(I know, Lugia can deal with this wave, he's just going to warn Moltres before it hits the mountain....)
Lugia reached Moltre's Mountain and warned it about the wave.

Lugia used Wave, and used it against the other wave, sending it back to the ocean.
